Why do "Total Data Remaining" in ClientZone always indicate the same amount of data even though I ran out?

Without a true indication of the amount of data I have left I'm unable to budget or plan to save data. As a result I need to constantly Top Up my account. For some reason I run out of data extremely quickly even though I mostly make use of email and social media for business purposes.
