Moving to a new webhost and website maintainer

Good day,

We want to move to a more cost effective option as we are currently hosted by Herzner and they are dropping their basic plan and forcing us into a higher more expensize category. We are a small guest house in the berg getting in average of 20 enquiries per month and never use the outgoing mail as we paste onto gmail and answer from there. We also need someone to maintain our website www.rivercrossingaccommodation.co.za and do updates from time to time which may be once a year or so! The builder of the website 5 years ago is Merit Computers and we wish to move this. He has provided the folowing information in terms of the move of the data. That being said we have all the emails in our outlook inbox and wonder whether the data really has to be backed up for emails as we can always source the info via outlook or will it all disappear from Outlook when the changeover takes place?

"I will supply you with a backup of the website content and the e-mails. Please note that the format for the e-mail back-up is Linux specific.

"The emails available in the users folder are stored in the server’s maildir format which can only be interpreted by other Linux servers using Dovecot / Exim. As such, we only recommend backing up emails using this method if the purpose is to transfer these emails to another hosting server."

Please advise what you can offer us in terms of our needs and at what cost.

Thank you.

Michelle Adams - I am not located in SA but you can whatsapp me on +27823082622 which is only sms roaming enabled. Our time is 8.15am and yours should be 5.15pm

I consider https://zomro.net/ to be the best web host - contact them, their highly trained experts will assist you in making the right choice.
They have one click installs that you can install on your server with just one click of a button.

No matter what hosting you will choose, I highly recommend to use website monitoring service to know how it works. For example Host Tracker is quite good service for this purpose. Each test is simulating the visit of a real user. You will get detailed statistics about loading speed, server network connectivity, database check, availability of the site from different places, etc.

Moving to a new hosting and switching to a new web site should always be done consciously and even better consult with experts and they will answer the question: how and why is it better to outsource software development https://idapgroup.com/blog/why-outsource-software-development/ then the transition will be quicker and less tangible for you and your users
