Dear Afrihost

We need a quote for better connectivity - we currently have a very slow Mweb connection, we have Telkom ADSL & Bitso for the phones.

The internet is extremely slow and apparantly interferes with the Telkom calls. We would like a quote for a small office of 5/6 people.(NOT a business acount at this stage)

Our current costs are:

       Telkom - R918pm

       Bitco Voip - RR820 pm

       Mweb  internet - R771pm

We require an excellent internet/telephone service at a similar price.

I see on your coverage map for Stellenbosch that there is no fibre available for our address? Stellengracht Building, CnrBird/Plein Street

Your advice and guidance would be appreciated

Good Day Antoinette,

This is what you need to get DSL at Afrihost

To get DSL broadband in your home, you’ll need the following:

  • A Telkom line with DSL service enabled.
    If you have a phone line, we can get it DSL-enabled for you. If you do not already have a Telkom phone line, please contact Telkom directly to get it installed.
  • A DSL modem or router.
    If you don’t have a DSL modem, visit our Modems and Wi-Fi Routers page to see what devices we can offer you.
  • An Afrihost DSL data package.
    You can choose between either Capped or Uncapped DSL data packages.

Other Questions

Do I need to have a separate telephone line to get DSL?
DSL allows you to share an Afrihost high-speed internet connection and your voice calls over the same physical telephone line.

Can I install DSL on a prepaid telephone line?
The DSL service is only supported on phone lines with a monthly subscription from Telkom.

Is my telephone line enabled for DSL service already?
Please contact Telkom customer services to confirm. If it is not then you need to ask Telkom to enable it for you.

Can Afrihost make my telephone line DSL ready?
Yes, we can simply sign up for an Afrihost DSL Line.

How long does it take for my DSL Data to be activated after I sign up?
Afrihost will activate your DSL account within 24 hours of receiving your signup. Generally within 5-10 minutes. If you are a first-time Afrihost client, you will just need to send us a copy of your ID for verification.
