Morning!

Most ADSL modems will automatically pick-up an active ADSL line once you have connected the modem to the telephone jack, and powered on the ADSL modem.

In most instances you will be able to see the ADSL line readings for the ADSL modem under the modem's Maintenance screen, there you will be presented with the ADSL line sync as well as a few other useful readings such as your SNR and Attenuation readings for the ADSL line.

Another quick way to check, is by looking on the actual modem itself, all modems have individual lights showing the ADSL line status as well as the ADSL account connection status. If the ADSL line status light is red, it usually means the ADSL line is not active, or is somehow not receiving a signal from the Exchange, whilst if it were Green it wuld mean that you have an active and connected ADSL Line.
