"A Record" To Point Subdomain to another local server webpage

0 votes

I have a registered a domain with 2 subdomains and I am tryng to point one of the subdomains to a local server.

I have tried to create multiple different "A Records", however, when accessing the domain URLs via a browser, it keeps just displaying the Afrihost coming soon webpage. I have further tried to remove the index.html file from teh directory and now I am getting a forbidden response (403).

The "A Records" that I have tried includes:

  • Record Name: @ and IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
  • Record Name: subdomain_Name and IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
  • Record Name: www.subdomain_name and IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx represents my external local server IP address.

I have configured port forwarding on my local environment and I can access the local server from the internet over port 80 and 443. Therefore, it is not a local web server issue.

What I am trying to achieve is by using my Afrihost domain, create a subdomain and have the contents of the local web server to display on the subdomain.

Please caould you advise if there is anything that I am missing or any other records that I need to configure?

Thanks :)
