You need to get an active Telkom line for internet access and it does not need to be DSL active as Afrihost can request the line conversion on your behalf. To complete the normal line into DSL, the process takes 14 to 30 working days to complete but during that tme you will not be billed until the line is active on Afrihost platform, which will activate a selected/ordered data package automatically. The line can be converted within a week or two depending on the Telkom workload in your area. After that Afrihost will wait for the management of the line to move over to them and the order is complete.

In regards to the order number, i think the consultant wanted to know if you had applied/ordered for a line with them already to track process.

You need to involve Telkom because they are the only ones who can install and activate a line for you. DSL services run through that line and if you do not have that line from Telkom the only option you have to use Mobile Data. If you have a great MTN signal in your area than i would suggest you check any of our Mobile Data packages and sign up for one.

Telkom owns the infrastructure therfore they bill you for all services running on the line. If the DSL management is with us, Telkom will bill you for the infrastructure costs if you don't use your line for calls. If you use it for calls, faxes and or DSL services, Telkom bills you for everything running including the infrastructure costs.
