A reseller is a cPanel account owner that also sells cPanel accounts to other users. The system allows reseller accounts access to a limited version of the WHM interface, which allows them to manage the cPanel accounts that they sell.

To setup your reseller server you would need to create packages for the accounts you want to host on the server (Home >> Account Functions >> Create a New Account). Once the packages are created you can now add your New Accounts, domains (Home >> Account Functions >> Create a New Account).

  • For each new account, you must choose a username that contains 16 characters or less. Also, the first eight characters must be unique on the system to prevent issues with database prefixing and account transfers. You can disable database prefixing in WHM in the SQL section of the Tweak Settings interface (Home >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings) under Add prefix to names of new databases and database users.
  • If you set a server in a DNS cluster to the write-only role, WHM will not check whether a DNS zone exists before you create an account. Because of this, it is possible to create the same domain name on two or more of these servers. If this occurs, the servers will compete for updates to that domain.

Once the New Account is created with a package on the reseller server you can now access the domain's cPanel (Home >> Files >> File Manager). When you open the File Manager interface, perform the following steps:

  1. The File Manager Directory Selection window will appear. Select which of the four main directories you wish to view in the file window:
  • Home Directory (/home/user)
  • Web Root (/public_html/www)
  • Public FTP Root (/public_ftp)
  • Document Root (/public_html)
  1. If you wish to see hidden files, select the Show Hidden Files checkbox.
  2. If you do not wish to see the File Manager Directory Selection window again, select the Skip this question checkbox.
  3. Click Go.

The File Manager interface opens in a new browser window. The selected directory will display in the file window.

It could be that when you created your packages on WHM, you didn't include file manager on your feature list. Edit your features list.
