Why do i only get high latency in online games?

I run an internet speed test and the results show 35 ping @ 3.4 mbps which is perfect however in an online game (for e.g. Dota 2 or CS:GO) i will be getting 350 - 3000 ping. This lag normally only kicks in from like 1pm to 11pm but it's a huge problem. I'd really like some feedback on how to fix this and whether this is an Afrihost problem or telkom

Could be that your game servers could be re-routing via other networks giving it lag. It could also be that it's peak time and business DSL will get more preference over 'Home'.

I understand that the Internet is weaker in time (day) so the reason is that there are many internet network users. Try to change the company, choose a lesser-known one with few users. I'm sure the quality is not inferior, but the fact that it has few customers, the power of the Internet is higher. That's what I did. I need good Internet to participate in championships in Dota2. Not for nothing did I get a 2 mmr boost on https://dota2-boost.com.
