This would be possible, what you would need to do it set the email up on the device as a pop account.
What this would do is download the emails to your device and not sync with the server.
To set this up on your pop account please see the below (this will only work if your account is a pop account)
In the Email app, touch the Menu icon button.
Choose Account Settings.
If you’re looking at the Combined View, choose a specific account from the left side of the Window.
Specifically, choose the account you use for your ISP. If not, ensure that you’re viewing the inbox for the ISP’s e-mail account and then start over with Step 1.
Choose the command Incoming Settings.
Touch the menu next to the item Delete Email From Server.
Choose the option When I Delete From Inbox.
Touch the Done button.
