Shaping Policy

I am struggling to grasp your shaping policy, what is the difference between Afrihost's shaping and other ISPs?

As far as my knowledge goes Afrihost always uses active shaping. They only shape when the network is under heavy load.

They will never throttle you even if you use crazy amounts of data. All they do is limit download bandwidth. Like p2p torrents etc.

Their goal is to always keep browsing, youtube, skype etc at maximum performance for eveyone.

I like this because you are never permanently shaped, only when needed to keep everyones browsing going strong.

Also what I know is that you can go into Clientzone and turbocharge your connection, which gives you unshaped access for a certain time period.

TL;DR: Afrihost only shapes downloads and only when network is under heavy load.

EVERY ISP shapes in some mannor, get something like CyberGhost VPN and test for yourself. When they had network issues and were "optimising" the network, I could only get full speed on my business account by going through my premium VPN provider.

IF you want minimum shaping, go get a AH business account. I pulled just under 1TB on my 4Mbps in 30days.
