getting a 169 ip on my cisco router, what am i doing wrong?

hi guys

 

sorry for the silly question, im still new and learning the cisco. just a quick question, why would i not get a ip address from afrihost on my router?

 

i am using MTU 1492

ip negotiated

what authentication should i use? pap or chap?

Afrihost at the moment issues IP addresses in the range 169.0.0.0 to 169.1.255.255 - so getting a 169 IP address is just fine.  The 169 IP address you should be concerned about is 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255 which is reserved for zeroconf networking.  If you get one of those, then you're having trouble.

For ADSL you can use PAP or CHAP, but usually PAP.
