Allocation of available ADSL data after data grab competition vs paid for adsl data

+3 votes
With Afrihost's data giveaway competition last December I managed to grab a 10Gb, 25Gb & a 50Gb bundle.

I however noticed on my ADSL data package that the data allocation usage that I have on my monthly account was deferred in leieu of the giveaway data first, forcing me to use that giveaway data bundle first. The result of this is that as I am not a heavy data user on a month to month basis, I will lose a great chunk if not all of my monthly allocated data because I will not deplete the combination of given and paid for data in my current month.

Why does Afrihost give away data bundles (valid for 12 months) but then make it impossible to transfer the unused data to the following month using the data I pay for (only valid for the current month) first and then only allocate the given data once the paid for has run out.

This amounts to giving a child a sweet but then taking it away before they can have a chance to use it.

Honestly you didn't read my question at all. Please take the time to read it attentively and understand what I am asking. If the data is valid for 12 months, why allocate data that is only available for the current month after the 12 month data? Surely the current month's data bundle needs to be allocated first then only the 12 month data bundle?

Hi Garpo

Im glad that you are one of the winners for DataSteal. From the day you won the data you were offered a chance to move your data to a free gig account so that you can use it once you ran out of data on your monthly allocated data package. If you have move this type of data it will be extremely difficult to move it to another account. If have not moved data on it kidnly send an email to with your account details so that we can assist you further. The data expires after 12 months from the day you received it. Your probably expires 30 November 2015.

Thank you for the reply. I do not understand why I should have needed to move it to a free gig account though. I have a capped account where the data bundles were allocated. So logic tells me the DataSteal data is valid for 12 months. My paid for monthly capped data is only valid for the current month. So a simple expiry date check will have meant that the current month data should have been allocated to first as it will expire long before the DataSteal data would as it will only expire in 12 months. Yet I now sit with 21 gig of unused data bundle that will expire at the end of the month where the DataSteal data which is valid for 12 months have now been used.
Ok, so I sent my query to with the necessary details. To date I have had no reply. I also included support who are giving me the run-around. Is any body going to address my question?
